Meet Dr Jonathan O’Malley (Chiropractor)

I became a chiropractor at 11 years old! So to speak…”

Dr Jonathan O’Malley (Chiropractor)

Before my seventh ear surgery, at the age of 11 to insert more gromits and t-tubes in an attempt to reduce my chronic ear infections, my mother decided to look for a non-surgical treatment. I was sick of being sick. Sick of operations, sick of antibiotics which have permanently marked my teeth, and sick of never being able to play in the water with my friends.

My mother started looking around for a more holistic approach to correcting my ongoing ear problems. She mentioned this to her Chiropractor, whom my father and she saw regularly for maintenance care on their low back pain which he had stabilised. The Chiropractor told my parents to bring me in so he could check my cervical spine (neck) to look for any spinal misalignments.

Upon examining my neck he found I had severe upper cervical spine misalignments which may have been effecting nerves going to my inner ears.

After six or so visits, no more infections, no more surgeries and no more missing out on the swimming baths with friends. At that young age I was fascinated how a man without needles, pills and the dreaded operating table could change my life with just his hands. From that point on I knew I would be a Chiropractor.

The Best of Chiropractic Education

Both my brother and I attended the “Fountain Head of Chiropractic” Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, USA. This is where Chiropractic was founded and is the World’s first and oldest Chiropractic university. My brother and I were fortunate enough to receive a rugby scholarship to attend the university, as we were playing for the Newcastle Falcons at the time.

Family Support is Key to our Chiropractic Business

I have a wonderful family and I am lucky enough to be able to work with them. My wife Rachael is our office manager, my brother James is also a Chiropractor and together we support each other in running our clinic system.

Both my wife and I like to cook and in doing so like to eat as healthily as possible. We exercise regularly by lifting weights in the gym, running through Jesmond Dene and walking the dogs on Tynemouth beach – we love to stay active.

Thanks for visiting our site. I look forward to meeting you in person and learning how we may be of service to you. Call your Newcastle upon Tyne Chiropractor or email us today!
